Sui Foundation Appoints Financial Services Leader Renée Berman as Strategic Advisor
Industry veteran of DTCC and Broadridge joins to advance Sui’s thriving institutional strategy and to ramp up the ecosystem’s capital markets engagement
Sui Foundation today announced the appointment of institutional finance leader Renée Berman as a key Strategic Advisor. Berman brings decades of leadership across capital markets, fintech innovation, and institutional blockchain adoption to Sui’s Advisory Board at a time when the industry is shifting toward tokenized financial infrastructure, with Sui at the forefront of these efforts.
Most recently, Berman drove strategic initiatives in digital asset securities as a Managing Director at the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), where she led the development of a risk and control framework for digital asset securities, which has become a key reference point across the industry. She later extended this work through partnerships with the Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) and Oliver Wyman, developing a comprehensive risk framework for issuing securities on public blockchains.
Prior to DTCC, Berman was Head of Strategy for Broadridge’s Capital Markets division, directing growth and business development efforts spanning M&A, strategic partnerships, and digital innovation. Her work included evaluating the potential impact of blockchain technology on Broadridge’s Capital Markets’ franchise and analyzing the opportunity to expand into the front office, which paved the way for Broadridge’s $2.5 billion acquisition of Itiviti. She has previously worked across financial services, in various roles at Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, and J.P. Morgan, and currently advises several organizations focused on risk, regulation, and the implementation of blockchain in capital markets.
“Sui offers the performance and design that the world’s largest financial institutions require to fully onboard into digital assets,” said Berman. “The opportunity to help shape products and infrastructure that bridge traditional finance with onchain innovation is compelling, and I’m thrilled to support Sui’s growth and help accelerate institutional adoption of blockchain technology.”
As a member of Sui’s Advisory Board, Berman will advise on product strategy and institutional relationships as Sui expands its reach in capital markets. Her work will focus on enabling traditional financial institutions to build products and infrastructure on Sui that leverage its unique object-centric design and horizontal scalability.
“Renée brings unmatched insight from her experience driving blockchain adoption inside some of the most important, complex, and risk-sensitive institutions in the world,” said Christian Thompson, Managing Director of Sui Foundation. “Renée’s experience spans market structure, technology, and regulation, which is critical for the industry at this inflection point. We’re excited to work with her as Sui expands into the next phase of institutional blockchain adoption.”
Berman holds an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a degree in Finance and Marketing from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
