EVE Frontier to Launch on Sui, Powering the Next Generation of Player-Driven Universes
CCP Games brings its new space survival MMO to Sui, leveraging the blockchain’s scalable architecture and object-centric design to power an emergent, player-driven universe.

CCP Games, the creator of EVE Online, announces that its new space survival MMO, EVE Frontier, will be built on Sui. Designed to support a vast, player-driven economy and an ever-expanding universe, Sui’s object-centric architecture provides the ideal foundation for modeling EVE Frontier’s tens of thousands of star systems, countless player-built ships, and evolving infrastructure.
By combining CCP Games’ two decades of experience in emergent sandbox gameplay with Sui’s high-performance blockchain technology, EVE Frontier will bring a new level of scale, composability, and player empowerment to MMO design. Sui’s architecture, built for scalability and sub-second finality, allows billions of player interactions and assets to exist in a living, persistent world, while Sui-native primitives and tools make onboarding, secure data storage, and access seamless for players.
Expanding the frontier with Mysten Labs’ full stack
In addition to Sui’s powerful combination of speed and scalability, CCP Games will also utilize Mysten Labs’ full stack of decentralized technology solutions, such as Walrus, the developer platform for trustworthy data, and Seal, which provides native data access controls. Together, these enable new opportunities for players to leverage information asymmetry and exploit intelligence in their pursuit to thrive in the Frontier.
"Much of Sui’s early design was shaped by the needs of high-performance games with full programmability for players,” said Sam Blackshear, co-founder and CTO of Mysten Labs, the original contributors to Sui. “EVE Frontier is the first game to leverage all of the novel features that Sui, Walrus, and Seal offer. We’re inspired by CCP Games’ vision to build a truly player-defined game that outlasts its creators. It’s a perfect match for the technical ambition of Sui."
Empowering a moddable, player-defined universe
EVE Frontier introduces a new system of “Smart Assemblies,” letting players and third-party developers build and deploy new programmable structures and systems safely at scale. Sui’s robust security model ensures these creations exist securely in a shared, persistent universe, preserving every player’s contribution as part of the game’s history.
CCP Games is currently porting the Founder Access build of EVE Frontier to Sui, implementing features like zkLogin for native account abstraction and Sponsored Transactions to bring billions of player-driven interactions on-chain seamlessly.
“Since inception, our mission has been to create virtual worlds more meaningful than real life. With EVE Frontier, we are pushing that ambition further than ever before: building a player moddable universe, bound by its own digital physics, that can outlive us all,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “As we dug into how Sui is architected, we came across so many familiar concepts, such as how their object-centric approach neatly matches our historic item-centric approach, enabling billions of objects/items, all placed by players, shaping a living universe. For us, Sui offered the unique alignment of architecture, security, and user experience. Together, we’re building a world that can truly stand the test of time.”
Bringing EVE Frontier to life on Sui
With EVE Frontier, CCP Games is extending its legacy of player agency and emergent storytelling to the blockchain. Every ship, structure, and system will be verifiable, persistent, and truly owned, powered by Sui’s scalable on-chain infrastructure. This partnership demonstrates how large-scale, player-driven worlds can thrive onchain, supported by technology built for creativity, community, and enduring scale.
