Mech Shooter Dark Machine Embraces Sui Technologies
Leveraging technology such as dynamic NFTs, Dark Machine creates a unique player experience.
Game developer Meta-X readies Dark Machine, its mech-shooter game, for release, bridging the worlds of gaming and Web3 with Sui's innovative NFT technologies. Set to launch on PC in the next few months, Dark Machine delivers exciting gameplay as teams piloting giant mechs battle head-to-head. And Dark Machine expects to launch on SuiPlay0X1, the innovative Sui handheld gaming device.
Set in 2076, the game and its companion anime portrays a world riven by energy wars, with battles fought by mechs called Destroids. Each player pilots their own Destroid, joining a team of seven against an opposing team in an arena. As players advance, their current mech can get inside and pilot bigger mechs, eventually reaching colossal proportions. However, mechs can also take damage, weakening their armor and making them increasingly vulnerable.
A destructible environment means players can create tactical advantages by breaking down walls and buildings, letting them truly interact with the arena.
Dark Machine distinguishes itself by launching with a companion anime series, adding depth to the overall story. Players gain a sense of immersion from watching the series and experiencing the game. Adding to this sense of immersion, players own their in-game NFTs, and can show them off outside of the game.
Although the game itself is built on Unreal Engine 5, specific visual elements exist as NFTs that players can acquire. Using Sui's dynamic NFT technology, where certain events can change their appearance, players will find their items visually reflecting upgrades and even in-game damage.
Further leveraging Web3, Dark Machine builds in an esports element through daily decentralized tournaments. Rather than have the game publisher or a third party create tournaments, individual players will be able to create and host. Those who choose this route may earn sponsorships and rewards.
Meta-X said it will create a version of the Dark Machine for SuiPlay0X1, the upcoming Sui handheld gaming device. This premium hardware mobile platform will let Dark Machine players compete in tournaments wherever they happen to be, and access all their Sui assets in one place.
